Chisa Nyama Loaded Fries

Chisa Nyama Loaded Fries

Ingredients

2 packs (750g each) McCain Frozen VCut Potato Crispers

12L Vegetable oil, for deep frying

400g Rib Eye or Rump Steak

400g Traditional Boerewors

Steak & Chops Spice

Salt and Pepper to taste

1 can (400g) Spicy Chakalaka, heated as per packaging instructions

Smokey BBQ Sauce, for serving

Tangy Mayonnaise, for serving

120g Cheddar Cheese, grated

2 Spring Onions, sliced

Directions

Serving Size: 4

  1. Prepare McCain V-Crispers: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to the appropriate temperature. Fry the McCain VCut Potato Crispers according to the package instructions until golden and crispy. Season with a pinch of salt and set aside on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  2. Cook the Meats: Season the steak generously with steak & chops spice. Grill (braai) the steak and boerewors to your preferred doneness (rare, medium, or well-done), which should take about 10 - 15 minutes. This can be done on a griddle pan, gas, or charcoal braai. Once cooked, slice the steak and boerewors into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Chakalaka: Prepare the chakalaka according to instructions on the packaging.
  4. Assemble & Serve: On a large serving plate, lay out the crispy McCain V-Cut Crispers. Top with the warm chakalaka, followed by the steak and boerewors pieces. Drizzle over the BBQ sauce and tangy mayonnaise. Finish with a generous sprinkle of grated cheddar cheese and sliced spring onions.
