Pumpkin Hot Cross Bun French Toast


200 grams McCain Pumpkin Chunks

3 Hot Cross buns sliced in half

1 cup water

1 tablespoon Maizena (cornflour)

¼ cup honey

¼ cup brown sugar

50 grams butter

½ teaspoon cinnamon




Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

  1. Combine the Maizena with the water and honey and keep aside
  2. Heat a small pot on medium heat and add the pumpkin and close the lid
  3. After 3 minutes the pumpkin will start to soften
  4. Add the Maizena and honey mixture, sugar and butter to the pumpkin
  5. Keep stirring until it thickens, about 2 minutes, add the cinnamon and remove from the heat
  6. In a bowl combine the eggs and milk and whisk
  7. Dip the hot cross buns in the egg wash
  8. Heat a large pan on medium heat with more butter and start frying the hot x buns
  9. Assemble the hot cross buns with the pumpkin sauce and enjoy
