Terms and Conditions for the McCain Made for Sharing Competition

  1. Entrants
    1. 1.1. Any person participating (a “Participant”) in the Competition does so on acceptance of these terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”).
    2. 1.2. McCain Foods SA (Pty) LTD (“McCain”) and their subsidiaries are each referred to as a “Promoter” in respect of the Competition for purposes of these Terms and Conditions.
    3. 1.3. The Competition will run daily from 00:01 am on 20th April 2024 and ends on 20 June 2024 at 11:59 am, after which time the Competition will automatically lapse and no further entries will be accepted.
    4. 1.4. This Competition is open to all South African residents of the age 18 years or older. The Promoter, their directors, members, partners, employees, agents, consultants, and any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by them or any supplier of goods and services in connection with this Competition and their spouses, life partners, parents, children, siblings, business partners or associates are not eligible to participate in or enter this Competition.
    5. 1.5. Participants may only enter the Competition as an individual; any entries that, in the Promoter’s absolute discretion, have been made by a person who is not a natural person, or via participation in a syndicate will be disqualified.

    1. 2.1. R1 000 000 in rewards

    3. 2.3.One Reward is awarded to 463 winners only over the above mentioned promotional period.
  3. Competition and Entry Mechanism
    1. 3.1. To enter the Competition to win the Reward in any particular week, Participants must, buy any McCain 1x Chips: 1kg or 750g plus any 1x Veg: 1kg, 750g or 700g., dial the USSD string *120*1536# or scan the QR code on pack and follow the prompts to enter, USSD costs are charged at 0.20c per 20’’.
    2. 3.2. The Entries are pooled at the end of the week and Participants will be selected by random draw. Winners will be contacted within 5 (five) working days of the draw.
    3. 3.3. Once a Winner is selected, they will be contacted via the mobile number through which they entered, by way of direct message. In response to the direct message the Winner who has been selected will have 7 (seven) working days from the date on which the direct message from the Promoters has been sent, to provide their name, email address, ID number and telephonic contact details through which the delivery of the Reward will be arranged and communicated.
    4. 3.4. Thereafter, the Winner will be contacted using the contact details provided and they must therefore ensure that the Promoters have their correct, updated details. If a Winner cannot be contacted after sending three emails and/or three phone calls on three consecutive business days, the Reward will be forfeited and a redraw will take place. Should this occur, the Winner shall have no claim against the Promoters.
    5. 3.5. A Participant shall only be eligible for the Reward in the particular week in which they submitted an Entry. No Entries submitted in one week will go into the pool of Entries for the random draw for another week.
    6. 3.6. A Winner shall only be eligible for one Reward notwithstanding how many times they have entered or the fact that multiple entries are made in different weeks of the Competition
    7. 3.7. Entries which are unclear, illegible or contain errors will be declared invalid.

  1. 5. Redemption
    1. 5.1. Rewards cannot be exchanged for an alternative Reward, and no negotiations will be entertained.
    2. 5.2. The Promoters reserve the right to replace the Reward with one of equal or greater value.
    3. 5.3. To claim a Reward, a Winner must, within 7 working days (from the time they are contacted), provide their name, ID number, email address and telephonic contact details to the Promoters, and to provide valid proof of identity (a green bar-coded ID book, passport, or drivers licence) and proof of purchase. This information shall hereafter be referred to as “Personal Information”. If the details are not provided within this time frame, a new Winner will be drawn and neither the Participant who was previously drawn as a Winner, will be eligible to receive the Reward.
    4. 5.4. By participating in the Competition, Winners consent to the Promoters obtaining, retaining, using and otherwise processing, the Personal Information furnished to the Promotors for the purposes of delivering the Reward to them. The Winners also consent to their names being published on the websites and various social media pages of the Promoters. Winners’ names may be displayed on the website at
    5. 5.5. The Winners must sign an acknowledgment of receipt of the Reward.
    6. 5.6. It is the Winner’s responsibility to provide the correct contact details (cell number, delivery address, email address). Participants must enter from a Facebook account, Instagram account or Twitter account that is registered in their own name and no other person will use another person’s social media account for Competition entry purposes. This is to avoid fraud and possible litigation between the social media account owner and the Participant.
  2. 6. General terms
    1. 6.1. All decisions pertaining to any aspects of the Competition are final and are made at the discretion of the Promoters. No further correspondence will be entered regarding their decision’s respective decisions. The Promoters nor its agents will be held responsible or answerable to any Participant for any dispute arising from the Competition or Reward.
    2. 6.2. The Competition, it’s Rewards, and any terms and/or conditions surrounding it may be amended by reasonable notification at any time during the Competition. Such altered terms and conditions and/or Rewards shall become effective immediately after being altered or on such date as may be determined by the Promoters.
    3. 6.3. Participants who, in the Promoters’ sole determination, act unlawfully, fraudulently, in breach of these Rules or otherwise dishonestly may be disqualified from participating in the Competition and shall not be eligible to receive any Reward.
    4. 6.4. In addition to any other rights contained in the Competition rules, the Promoters reserve the right to terminate the Competition at any time with immediate effect. If this is the case, the Promoters will provide a notice on their websites and it shall be the responsibility of entrants to review such websites in this respect. In such event, all consumers hereby waive any rights which they may have against the Promoters and acknowledge that they will have no recourse or claim of any nature against the Promoters.
    5. 6.5. The duration of this Competition may also be extended or curtailed at the sole discretion of the Promoters. If this is the case, the Promoters will provide notice of this on the website at

    7. 6.7. Ordinary data charges apply when Participants enter the Competition.
  3. 7. Exclusions and other important terms
    1. 7.1. By entering the Competition and/or accepting any Reward, the Participants, users and/or Winners hereby indemnify, release and hold harmless the Promoters (including their subsidiaries, holding companies and affiliates), their directors, employees, agents, suppliers and contractors (the “Promoters Parties”) from and against any actions, claims and/or liability for injury, loss, damage, expense, claim or damages of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in the Competition, and/or the use, acceptance or possession of a Reward, and/or participation (or non-participation) in a Reward-related activity.
    2. 7.2. Notwithstanding clause 7.1. above, nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit, or avoid any rights or obligations created for either the Participant or the Promoter in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (“CPA”).
    3. 7.3. By entering the Competition in accordance with its terms, Participants acknowledge that the Competition will be regulated by the provisions of the CPA. Qualifying Participants undertake to expeditiously do all things necessary to enable the Promoters to comply with their obligations under the CPA including, but not limited to, providing such personal information as may be required in order to facilitate handing over the reward.
    4. 7.4. Any Personal Information will be used in line with the POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013) and will not be disclosed to a third party without the Participant’s, Winner’s or Foodie Friend’s prior, informed consent.
    5. 7.5. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. In the event of a dispute in connection to this Competition Terms and Conditions, the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in South Africa.
    6. 7.6. The Promoter or a supplier of goods or services in connection with this Competition are not responsible for any errors, omissions and/or technical failures of any nature whatsoever throughout this Competition.
    7. 7.7. This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. The Participant understands that he/she is providing his/her information to the Promoters and not to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. The information so provided will be used for email communications for future Competitions should you opt in for future contact, and only with your prior, informed consent.

  4. 8. Travel Rand Voucher Terms and Conditions
    1. The Voucher is valid for 36 months from date of issue, or the date that the full value of the voucher has been redeemed, whichever is the earlier. The Voucher will have no seasonal restrictions and under no circumstances will an extension be permitted after the expiry date of the Voucher.

    4. Should a voucher be transacted for lesser value than voucher, the balance will be transferred to another Voucher, which Voucher shall be valid for the same period as the initial Voucher issued. The same terms and conditions shall be applicable to the use of the re-issued Voucher.
    5. Voucher may be used for air tickets, cruises, packages, safaris and any other travel services provided by except for foreign exchange. Voucher may not be exchanged for cash. Voucher must be treated as cash and thus vouchers that are lost, stolen or otherwise destroyed or fraudulently obtained will not be refunded or replaced. will have no liability to the voucher holder in this regard.
    6. Voucher may be transferred to another holder.     9. By providing any personal information, the Voucher holder consents to the processing of such personal information by for the purposes of issuing and enabling the redemption of the Voucher. Should such consent be refused or withdrawn and is notified of such refusal or withdrawal in writing, the Voucher holder acknowledges that will not be able to provide any services related to such Voucher and will incur no liability in this regard.
